Although this may sound like a scary concept to some, many masseuses and therapists say that once they've been properly trained, the art can be done easily.

Acupuncture was a long-standing Chinese practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific crucial points on the body. Tui Na can be used in conjunction with acupuncture to offer a complementary therapy. Some Tui Na practitioners utilize thumbs, palms, and fingers to stimulate the acupuncture points. There is a lot of debate as to whether the na therapy is effective or not. Some Tui Na practitioners may use the therapy to treat illnesses and injuries, but others say it has no effect other than pain.

To improve the health of people, Tui Na is often used in combination with other forms of Chinese medicine. For example, some people use it as a supplement to herbal medicine. Tai massage allows Chinese medicine practitioners to target specific meridians of the body to boost health. If these meridians are controlled properly, the body is said to be in good condition.
