报告摘要: In her talk she will browse the research of her team with a focus on her activities in geometric modeling and in virtual reality.
In geometric modeling, her goal is to produce efficient models for objects at a chosen level of detail. Based on combinatorial maps, she worked on an adaptive and multi-resolution representation of objects, generic enough to be the heart of a complete processing chain, effective to achieve optimization while avoiding transfers between data structures.
In virtual reality, her goal is to improve the precision and the comfort for 3D modeling tasks in an immersive environment. She worked on the four interaction tasks : a 3D pop-up menu for a quick and easy control of applications, a potter metaphor separating the degrees of freedom for 3D manipulation tasks, one selection tool in a dense environment, and she studied the factors affecting the perception of distance during the navigation in a virtual model.
报告人简介:Dominique Bechmann is a professor of computer science at the Strasbourg University where she is leading the Computer Graphics and Geometry team, at the ICube CNRS Lab since 1997 : http://icube-igg.unistra.fr/en/index.php/Main_Page.
She is personnally involved on research activities in geometric modeling and in virtual reality : http://icube-igg.unistra.fr/en/index.php/Dominique_Bechmann.
From 1986 to 1989, she did her PhD at the IBM scientific centre (Paris, France) on geometric modelling of anatomic organs. In 1990, she did a postdoc at the T.J. Watson research centre (Yorktown Heigths, New York, USA) on deformation models. In 1991, she became an assistant professor and since then she is working on geometric modelling and virtual reality.
