报告人:Yong Liu 刘勇教授

主持人:陈为教授

Abstract:A major component of big data and big data analytics is the product or service reviews available in many websites. These reviews exist in unprecedented scope and scale, and constitute a valuable information source for consumer decisions. This talk presents three papers related to the effects and mechanisms of online reviews. The first focuses on consumer reviews (i.e., online word-of-mouth) to study their impact on product sales in the context of movies. The second, also situated in the movie market, focuses on professional reviews to examine how they influence firms’market value. The third focus on the emerging online microcontracting market, and study the effectiveness of seller reputation in the presence of contracts.
