题目: Applications of Augmented Reality and Digital Surveying in Transportation and Security
Abstract:The Systems Engineering Department of the School of Technology, Policy and Management at Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands carries out a number of research projects into the use of virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed realities for decision making, training and situational awareness in the safety & security domain, and in the transportation & logistics domain. In the presentation, several examples of the research will be shown. One of them is virtual colocation for security purposes (a project with the Dutch Police Force). Another project is digital surveying for transportation asset management, where we work together with ProRail, the Dutch Railway Network Operator. The presentation will conclude with some challenges for 3D reconstruction, tracking algorithms, and augmented reality applications.
Bio:Alexander Verbraeck (MSc in applied mathematics 1987 (cum laude); PhD in logistics 1991), is a full professor at Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management, Systems Engineering and Simulation Department. His research focuses on modeling and simulation, especially in heavily distributed environments and using real-time data. Examples of research on these types of simulations are real-time decision making, interactive gaming using simulations, and the use of 3D virtual and augmented reality environments in simulations. The major application domains for research are logistics and transportation, and safety and security. In addition Alexander has a position as adjunct professor at the R.H. Smith School of Business at the
University of Maryland, USA. Here, he applies the modeling and simulation research for studying
real-time supply chains.
