Introduction to Computer Game Programming

Description

The computer games industry has grown extremely quickly over the past few years. This course will study basic concepts and techniques for developing computer games. They cover various aspects of knowledge including computer graphics, 3D animation, interactive techniques, audio programming, network, artificial intelligence and software engineering. Among the semester, guest lecturers will lead discussions on state-of-the-art of computer game industry. Coursework will include analyzing/presenting a computer game, several small programming projects and a final-term project. The course is open to 2010 grade undergraduates of College of Computer Science and College of Software Technology, Zhejiang University.

Classroom: Caoguangbiao West building 101, Yu Quan Campus, Zhejiang University. Time: Tuesday 8:00-9:30; Thursday, 15:50-17:30.

Homework deadline:

30th April: Proposal submission; Team construction;

12th May: Pairwise proposal evaluation; Evaluating a published game

30th June: Game project mid-term report;

15th August: Final project report

Homework:

Evaluating game proposal: 10%

Evaluating a published game: 10%

Two game techniques selected from a list of candidates: 20%

Final game project: 60%
