Bio: Liu Fuchang is a Research Fellow of Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), working under the supervision of Prof. Sai Kit Yeung. His research interests include collision detection, physical simulation, GPUs rendering and image processing. Before joining SUTD, Fuchang was a Research Fellow of Institute for Media Innovation (IMI) in NTU from 2012 to 2013 and a Postdoctoral Researcher of Ewha Womans University in South Korea from 2009 to 2012. He received a PhD in pattern recognition and intelligent systems from Nanjing University of Science and Technology in 2009.
Abstract:To perform massively parallel collision detection, we reduce the number of false positive overlaps by parallelizing sweep and prune and spatial subdivisions. As application of our algorithm,we demonstrate the real-time collision detection of massive bodies. And we presents a methodology combining subdivision and numerical root finding to directly render implicit surfaces embedded in deforming volumetric Bezier patches. The resulting algorithm maps well to parallel computing platforms such as CUDA.We demonstrate on a variety of representative examples that our GPU scheme achieves up to real-time performance on comsumer level GPUs.Exemplar can be a priori shape,a energy constraint, a texture pattern
