Multimedia Computing and Visualization

  We aim to explore fundamental theory and novel algorithms for visualization by integrating visualization and data mining techniques, study the theory and methodology of Web scale multimedia (e.g., images, videos, and text documents) semantic mining and retrieval, develop novel approaches for data representation and understanding from geometrical and topological perspective, address the key challenges in parallel visualization of Web scale data and construct a unified framework for intelligent information processing and visualization towards various disciplines, and eventually apply these techniques to key application areas like digital medicine, digital earth, social security, and so on. Specifically, we focus on the theory and methodology of multimedia computing, theory and algorithms for visualization, parallel visualization of large scale data, and information processing and visualization towards specific discipline.
