内容摘要:I will start with a few motivation for matrix completion and low rank recovery. Next I shall give a quick review including several most updated research results on matrix completion in terms of matrix RIP conditions. Then I shall explain several minimization approaches on matrix completion and/or low-rank matrix recovery. I will continue to explain an unconstrained $\ell_q$ minimization approach for low-rank matrix recovery in detail. In addition, an optimal rank 1 matrix pursuit algorithm will be discussed including their convergences. Finally, I shall present some numerical results for recovering images from their random sampling entries without and with noises.

He received his B. S. in Jan.,1982 from Hangzhou University,China and his Ph. D. in Aug.,1989 from Texas A&M University. His Ph. D. advisor is Professor Charles K. Chui.After his Ph. D.,he became an instructor at University of Utah,Salt Lake City during 1989{1992.He started as an assistant professor at University of Georgia in 1992-1995.Then he was promoted to associate professor in 1995.He has been a full professor since 2000 at University of Georgia. He went to visit Vanderbilt University,Tennessee,USA in 2003 for one semester,Georgia Institute of Technology,Atlanta in 2004 for one semester,and University of Oslo,Oslo,Norway in 2006 for one semester.
He has several specialized research areas:Approximation Theory,Compressed Sensing,Mathematical Image Analysis,Multivariate Splines,Numerical Analysis,Numerical Solution of Partial Dierential Equations,Wavelet and Frame Analysis.
He published a monograph Spline Functions over Triangulations, 585+pages by Cambridge University Press,Cambridge,U.K. 2007 coauthored with L. L. Schumaker. In addition,he has published more than 100 papers. Number of his co-authors reaches 48.
